Tour de France in Barcelona

A little bit of French on our Spanish course website. C'est la folie, we know.

For the third time in history, Barcelona will welcome the crazy Tour de France circus. The caravan will arrive on Thursday 9th of July around 15:00 and the cyclists (heroes or performance enhancing drug addicts?) are expected round 17:00. The caravan will pass very close to our Spanish school in Barcelona so we may all quickly pop out to have a look.

Barcelona always tries to do something special and this time, all the spectators are asked to wave a yellow sheet (to be handed out before the arrival of the cyclists) to create the “biggest yellow wave in history”. We shall see!

You can find an overview of the route here in case you are interested to watch the arrival (and you happen to be in Barcelona of course). On Friday morning, the caravan leaves again for the first interesting mountain “étappe” from Barcelona to Androrra around 11:00 but this will be a less exciting event than the arrival on Thursday.

You can find more information about the Tour de France 2009 event in Barcelona here on the official website of the city council.
