We have so many different students from all over the world, so I really wanted to know why a person from a country that is located so far away would like to join a Spanish class in Valencia, Spain; what makes it attractive and how staying here will influence this person’s future. Therefore I asked one of our students:
Name: Da Hye
Age: 19
Nationality: South Korea
How long are you staying in Valencia and Babylon-Idiomas:
In total 6 months in Valencia and 6 months at Babylon-Idiomas.
Why are you learning Spanish?
In South Korea I am studying Spanish at university and so being here in Spain helps me a lot so I can practice Spanish with native speakers and actually get to know the people and the culture.
Why Spain, why Valencia?
I chose Valencia because it is a big city but it is still small enough to get everywhere really fast; because it is located by the seaside and because it is very safe.
What are you doing/ studying in your country?
I am studying Spanish to work as a flight attendant. After finishing school when I was 18 Years old, I went straight to university. I will probably finish my studies when I am 23 years old.
How will knowing Spanish help you in your future?
It will help me in my future job, to communicate, to not only understand the language better but also the culture. If I have Spanish clients who have a problem with something, I will be able to understand them better because of the experience I had through living and knowing the Spanish culture.
What do you like most in Valencia?
As I already mentioned, Valencia is a big city, the third largest in Spain, but it is not exhausting to live here. In addition it is a very safe city. There’s no reason to be afraid if you are going out at night or if you are travelling by yourself. And of course I like Valencia because it is a great place to be. People are friendly, the weather is always nice and sunny and there are a lot of parks where you can spend your time if you don’t like to go to the beach or if you want to escape the city for a moment.
What don’t you like?
I cannot really think of anything I don’t like. Valencia just seems to be a very beautiful city.
What is your favorite Spanish food?
Since Valencia is the most famous place for Rice and Paella, It has to be Paella Valenciana. You really have to taste fresh paella when you visit Valencia!
Would you recommend the city to other students of your country who want to learn Spanish?
Yes of course! I am very happy with my decision to have chosen my Spanish course in Valencia and I would recommend it to everyone who wants to learn Spanish. Valencia is a very nice city and the perfect place to get to know Spain!
